U-House
Unterolberdorf
The House on a long property has a characteristic U-shape. Due to the two stories in western direction the inner court yard is protected from the wind. To the south the building height gets lower, in order to get more light into the courtyard and the building. Furthermore the living space benefits from a higher ceiling. Woodbine will cover the court yard, which creates a natural shading. The green roof is a reference to the existing ‘Kellergassen’ in the surroundings. The construction consists of 50 cm thick bricks, which have a high thermal storage mass. The house is closed to the street and opens itself in the direction of the garden.
