After a cemetery and the Thurn and Taxis Park the new campus forms an end point after three successive parks of different characters. The aim of the design is to preserve and strengthen this ensemble.
The connection between the new compact, three-storey building and the existing main building takes place below the ground level and fulfills the functional requirements in a spatially exciting manner. It prevents a structural separation to the Thurn and Taxis Park, whereby the current external situation can be maintained.
The new building is situated like a pavilion in the most beautiful area of the property surrounded by trees and does not compete with the striking and listed old building due to its small height and distance. It forms its own, complementary unit.
By minimizing the cubature, the new building can be located anywhere on the plot with minimal external dimensions. The homogeneous and compact structure is oriented in all four directions and has an intelligent and energetically effective façade. Inside, classrooms with optimal proportions and a high level of attractive communal areas, that can be assigned to the student's respective age groups, evolve. Due to its translucent appearance, the building looks lightweight and changes with lighting moods.
