Hideout H2 11_2017

A simple timber house sitting on a massive base in the hillside. The orientation of the two story high loggia is following the favorite view of the owner through the valley towards the hill of Wienerwald. The interior space develops around an exposed concrete core, which contains the stairs, technical space and bathroom. The living space is on the ground floor, the bedrooms and a workspace on the second floor. The two floors are connected through a two story high space. The whole timber construction consists of prefabricated massive timber elements with a white fir top layer. The insulation is wood wool; the facade is vertical unplaned spruce planking. Special attention was given to the use of untreated, natural materials. The heating is assured by the central fireplace, supplemented by under floor heating in some areas. The utilities management was willingly restricted to minimum. The focus was from the beginning an overall concept reduced to what is essential.
